Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for scrapes Ok so I’ve always loved this eight hour cream , it’s excellent for scrapes , cracked lips , dry hands and many other things . My family and I use it almost everyday for our lips . I used it every night on my lips and hands . The scent is not amazing but I don’t mind it because it keeps my hand and lips hydrated. I would definitely recommend this product. Oh and it works great for sunburns .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helping dry lips & sunburned skin I'm really liking this Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Skin Protectant. I always have dry lips & I also recently got a terrible sun burn on my face & hands & it's left my skin in bad shape. Once my sunburn healed, I've been using it on all of those areas & everything is slowly looking better. Lips & skin are smoother & less dryness. I'll definitely continue to use this for lips & really dry skin.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works! This cream really helps to heal chapped skin and minor scrapes. It has more of a petroleum feel than a cream. It doesn’t have an oily feel and a little bit goes a long way. I would recommend using it at night, it has a stronger smell to me. Great skincare product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great I use this every single day and I absolutely love it. My face feels so amazing and refreshed after using this. Very reasonable priced for the amount of product you receive so overall great value. Id recommend to all

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not my favorite cream For me this product is a miss. I do not like the texture or scent of the cream. It is very thick and sticky and leaves an oily residue behind. One thing that is very convenient and a huge selling point to this product is that it can be used for multiple things; hands, face, eyebrows, cuticles, etc. This might be a great product for someone who likes the texture and consistency, but it just wasn't for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must Have I used this mainly on my hands to soothe irritated skin around my nails and there was no greasy residue. It absorbed into my skin nicely and didn't leave a thick, nasty layer like one might think. A little bit goes the distance, too. Just a pea size dollop for both hands and I was good to go. It helped the irritated skin as well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing product! I LOVE this skin protectant. I was surprised by the color at first, as I was expecting a white lotion and instead it's more of a tan-orange petroleum jelly color. But once you get past the color, you'll find that it works great. Especially if you apply at night, you'll wake up with moisturized hands/elbows/wherever you put it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Multi-use Cream! It is very moisturizing on my combination skin, but does not feel greasy. Good for winter months when the heat is on. But, I can use it all year like now in the summertime. I also use this on my hands and sometimes my arms. Great product and I recommend others to try!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy duty moisture I was a little skeptical when I first applied this as it seemed oily and sticky, but after about a half hour it had fully absorbed. The hand I tested it on was noticeably softer, while the other hand felt dry in comparison. I probably wouldn’t use it as a regular moisturizer because of the time it takes to absorb but it’s amazing for very dry skin!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful I use so many different types of hand lotion, I usually cannot tell a difference between various brands, but this one is amazing. I can tell a huge difference after using this hand cream. Highly recommend

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked great on rough heels The first time I used Elizabeth Arden eight hour cream skin protectant in the 1.7 oz tube, I was expecting a average white cream lotion, but this product is not just average nor a white cream lotion it is 56.8% petroleum based and looked tannish orange in color to me. The texture is a petroleum jelly type, but comes out of the tube very easily even though it is on the thicker side. It doesn't seem to absorb into the skin, but tends to sit on top of it with a somewhat oily feel and sheen to it. I apply this product nightly to my hands, elbows and the heels of my feet that get so rough even my husband has complained the dryness scratches his feet when I rub my feet across his. What a difference that from just using a couple of weeks have made, all that heel roughness is gone and no more scaly looking elbows. The reason I apply at night is because the scent of this product is not that pleasing.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dont like this at all I have tried using this cream on my dry hands, cuticles, and as suggested eye brows. It's just to sticky and thick for me. I did not notice a smell. Left my eye brows feeling greasy after my 12 hour shift and my hands felt sticky. Some like this consistancy, I however do not.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't like the smell or how it feels I really didn't like this at all. It made my hands feel greasy and didn't get that absorbed feeling like most skin protectants do. I also didn't care for the smell. I don't really know how to describe it other than old and rubbery. Also the color tone of this product was very off putting. I can't even describe the color of it, it just wasn't appealing. I have seen and used other Elizabeth Arden products before, this just missed the mark for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every money Compliments on my skin with my first tube was noted at work. People I never had state anything about my skin were coming up to me asking me "what are you using, you have beautiful skin!" I am not young by any means but when younger women start asking me about skin care? I am paying attention, something I am doing is right. I didn't realize but it was about 3 weeks that I had started using this cream. It is worth it.i have very dry skin it definitely helps protect your skin for 8hours

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just not for me While this may be good for 8 hours over night, it's just not for me. It felt thick like vaseline and has a strong smell to it. It did however make my skin feel radiant after a couple weeks. Just not something I would use daily.
Date published: 2019-05-09
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Thick but bad smell This is very thick and effective for very dry skin, lips, etc. The smell, however, is not for me. Just kind of smells like it belongs on a car and not a person. I might continue using on my heels at night or for some other purpose that won’t involve smelling it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very creamy I've been using this product for over ten days. It's super creamy feeling and when I put it on my skin it definitely feels like it's creating a barrier. My skin feels nice and moisturized. The cream has a light scent and is orange in color. I did get a sunburn and was using this to make sure I didn't peel as much on my face, it really helped. I am very happy that I can a nice cream to add to my beauty routine.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall good product Honestly this product overall works great. It helped so much with the winter roughness. I have major issues with the skin on my hand peeling and although it was getting better with the season change it still has the last of it. This seemed to make the cracks heal faster and also made my hands overall softness better. I really liked how long it seemed to last. The biggest complaint is the smell. It has a medicinal smell which I did not like which is kind of a deterrent to use while working so it was mainly a before bed kind of cream.
Date published: 2019-05-08
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent product I've had this for about a week now and have tried to love it, but I can't. I first used it on my cuticles, they are very dry and need help. After applying it, I felt like I needed to wear gloves. Since the main ingredient is petroleum jelly, it doesn't rub in very well. Plus, the smell is a bit too much for me and not very pleasant. I tried it on my lips, I had to take it off right away. I might try it on my feet this weekend when I can apply and just sit on the couch with socks on. This might work better for someone in the cold where your skin is always chapped and you don't care if your product smells good or not.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thick cream for maximum protection I like this cream. It is petroleum based and extremely thick (think ointment). It worked great on my chin that was cracked and peeling to both sooth and protect. It has a rose tint, that went on rather strong but after rubbing in wasn't noticeable. The scent is light and pleasant. I foresee using the cream a lot this summer to protect and heal after days in the sun and wind. I have fair skin that is sensitive, and this did not inflame or irritate. I highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely Moisturizing I love how moisturizing this skin protectant is. I feel like my skin is glowing and happy when I use it. A little goes a long way and it can last for hours as advertised. I will definitely purchase a larger quantity next time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok product, unpleasant smell This product is branded as an 8 hour cream....the product itself is more like a petroleum jelly than a cream and it has a very strong medicinal odor. I applied this product in the a.m. and unfortunately lasted barely 2 hours certainly not 8. The fragrance of the product is a miss, you almost don't want to use it because of the fragrance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely loving this cream! The Original Eight Hour Cream Skin Protectant from Elizabeth Arden has truly exceeded my expectations. I have tried this cream mostly on my feet and face. My face is very dry around the eyebrows and lips, but this has been my go-to since its arrival on my doorstep. I have not experienced any skin irritation. It works great on my dry and cracked heels. My eyebrows look a whole lot better now because my skin stays moisturized throughout the day and is no longer peeling. The cream has a light fragrance but I can’t figure out what the scent resembles. I recommend this cream because it has great emollient properties. The price is a bit steep for my frugal pockets, but I do tend to spend money on quality products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My skin is soft and healthy looking! I am really tough on my hands, and it shows. Add in living in Las Vegas, and they are dried out most of the time. The Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream does an incredible job of re-hydrating my hands. It has a nice scent, not too heavy or perfume like. When I applied it to my hands it felt really oily. I was concerned, I try to avoid heavy, greasy products. About 15 minutes after applying it, it was completely absorbed in, and no longer felt greasy. I like that I do not have to reapply it after every hand washing, my hands remains soft, and moisturized, even after I've washed my hands. It is not what I expect of a cream. It feels more like an oil/cream/serum hybrid. I am not really sure how to explain it. What ever you want to call it, it left my skin soft and smooth. After a few days of use there was no sign of the previously dried, cracked skin I had before using it. My hands have a nice healthy glow, which I never expected. I have not tried it on my face, as I am prone to break outs. But I am very happy with the results every where else I have tried this cream.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I’ve been putting this on my awful cuticles, they were so sore from being dried out. My fingers are so much softer now and don’t hurt anymore... I also put this on dry patches on my face that my usually facial lotion doesn’t do a very good job at, you would think that it would be very greasy on your face but surprisingly it wasn’t. My face felt super soft and moisturized, I find myself caressing my face during the day, I love this stuff!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Really works! I was excited to give this product a try because it claims to not only hydrate the skin but protect it as well. Since it's a petroleum-based cream, I would consider it to be more of an ointment/occlusive rather than a cream. I prefer to use this at night because it has a strong, kinda unpleasant scent (my reason for 4 stars). I typically have dry skin and now that I'm using a prescription retinoid, my skin is even dryer, especially my lips! The EA Eight Hour® Cream Skin Protectant works perfectly as the last step in my evening skincare routine. I use a tiny bit on my face to seal in the moisture from my night cream. I also put a layer on my hands and on my lips to seal in the moisture there as well. My skin is practically glowing when I wake up in the morning and my lips are no longer chapped! Another way that I use it is on my feet before bed. I'll put some lotion on, then a layer of this cream, and then a pair of thick socks and by morning my feet are so moisturized. I love that this product is so versatile in it's applications. I would definitely recommend this to others, but it may not be for people who are sensitive to strong smells.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best I have been using this for years. I use it every night on my lips and cuticles before bed. Also have used on other dry patches Works great each time I use it

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works Fairly Well I wanted to truly love this hand cream. First of all, I would consider this more of an ointment rather than a cream. It is very sticky and greasy like petroleum jelly. As a matter of fact, the ingredients label states it is 56.8% petrolatum. I don't necessarily mind that because I have very dry skin but it was not what I was expecting based on the label! Now as far as effectiveness, it really does work very well! My hands felt very hydrated and soft all day. I recommend putting it on after washing hands so you can seal in all the moisture and get maximum moisturization. Keep in mind it is going to need a little time to absorb due to the thick texture. Sadly, the scent is just too much for me. It's hard to describe the smell, it's definitely not floral, maybe like a soapy medicinal smell. It's also pretty strong. Honestly it reminds me of my grandma - sorry grandma! I really like the cream based on how it works but I would go for the fragrance-free version if you are sensitive to smells.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from love this stuff! This product is great for all sorts of things! I especially love it on my lips, has a hint of color but hydrates well. It's great on cuticles and dry skin too. I've been carrying it around in my purse for anything I might need to use it for but definitely a good alternative to lip gloss (adds the gloss & shine but makes your lips feel good too).
Date published: 2019-05-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the best It makes my face feel refreshed and baby smooth.A little bit of this cream protectant goes a long way. It is very rich and thick but does not leave a greasy feel my skin texture become smoother and hydrated, but it felt moisturized and soothed. The difference is astounding!

How does this differ from Eight Hour Daily Defense Moisturizer

Asked by: JanetL
Hello, JanetL! Our skin protectant is a petrolatum-based product that has the consistency of a pomade, whereas the Daily Defense Moisturizer has a gel-like formula that contains SPF 30 to protect your skin from the sun and blue light while doing more amazing things for your skin.
